Marion Lê is a renowned Australian Migration Agent and Humanitarian based in Canberra, Australia, known for her unwavering dedication to advocating for refugee rights and social justice.

Born in Richmond, Nelson, New Zealand, Marion's journey to becoming a prominent advocate began with her move to Australia in 1971. Since then, she has become a pivotal figure in the support and settlement of refugees, particularly Vietnamese boat people arriving in the mid-1970s.

With a background in education, Marion spent 20 years teaching before transitioning into her role as a migration agent and consultant. She holds a Bachelor of Theology and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from the Australian National University, as well as a Graduate Diploma in International Law.

 

Her career has been marked by significant contributions to humanitarian efforts, for which she has received numerous accolades, including the Human Rights Medal in 2003, the Medal of the Order of Australia in 1990 (OAM), Medal of Australia (AM), and the Bicentennial Canberra Citizen of the Year in 1988.

Marion has always been at the forefront of advocating for the voiceless. She founded the Marion Lê Social Justice Party to provide independent advocacy for those who feel unheard by traditional political entities.

 

As the president of the Grandparent and Kinship Carers Association of the ACT, she continues to champion the rights and welfare of children in care.

Marion’s work has not only been instrumental in shaping refugee policies but also in fostering a more inclusive and compassionate society. Her tireless efforts have made her a respected and influential figure in the community, dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those most in need.
